Official Lake County Contacts

This is a private reference service, not a Lake County office. It cannot confirm custody, release anyone, post a bond, or retrieve an official booking record. Contact the public office that owns the question or record.

Where to Route a Request

Lake County centralizes many public-safety and records offices in Baldwin. Use the current official page before relying on an address, email, app module, or phone number. The county jail is the first route for a current custody question, while the Sheriff can help identify an agency route. A document or photograph request belongs with the record custodian through FOIA.

For a records request, describe the date or range, location, agency, record type, name if known, and report number. The county form includes a Photos option, but the custodian decides whether a requested record is maintained and releasable.

  • Use the Lake County record lookup route for the official app caveat, FOIA process, state custody, federal custody, and court path.
  • Use the jail number for a current custody question, not as a promise that the public can obtain a photo by phone.
  • Use the Sheriff or village office when the agency that handled an incident is unclear.
  • Use the court for a case or disposition question after identifying the correct case number.
  • Use Michigan OTIS for a state-supervision profile, not for a county booking search.
  • Use the BOP or ICE locator only for the separate federal or immigration custody systems they cover.
